LUPANE – Two brothers died in Nyamandlovu on June 6 following a violent altercation sparked by a funeral policy pamphlet, police said.
One of the brothers had received a pamphlet containing information on how to sign up for a funeral policy. An argument broke out when the other accused him of intending to join Satanism.
During the altercation, one brother allegedly struck the other several times on the head with a log.
The injured brother was later offered shelter by a friend and was found dead the following day. The other brother was also found dead under a tree, with bruises all over his body, on the same date.
“Investigations into the circumstances surrounding both deaths are underway,” national police spokesman Commissioner Paul Nyathi said in a statement.
Police urged members of the public to resolve disputes amicably and refrain from resorting to violence.
