MUTARE – The Zimbabwe Newspapers Group (Zimpapers) has removed Leander Kandiero as Station Manager for Diamond FM, it was announced.

Jabulani Mangezi, who was a DJ on the Mutare-based station, takes over as Acting Station Manager.

Diamond FM announced the change on its Twitter account, also revealing that Kandiero “takes up another role within the Zimpapers radio division”.

Kandiero’s departure is the third senior editorial change inside two weeks at Zimpapers after Sunday Mail deputy editor Munyaradzi Huni was surprisingly axed, followed by the ouster of CapiTalk Station Manager Napoleon Nyanhi, who was targeted for allegedly allowing criticism of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga on air.

Diamond FM, launched in May 2016, was Zimpapers’ second radio station after its flagship Star FM. The company later added CapiTalk, riding on a licence awarded to bookseller, Kingstons Limited, which is flying through financial headwinds.
