DURBAN – Oliver Mtukudzi is remixing his all time classic, Neria, with the help of Black Mambazo, the legendary South African imbube ensemble.

Mtukudzi, who was due to perform at the Warehouse in Durban on Friday night, tweeted news of his tie-up with Black Mambazo.

“Went into the studio and re-recorded Neria and now it features @therealmambazo,we shot the music video in Durban a few weeks ago. Look out for it in the next few weeks,” he tweeted.

The tweet shows a snippet of the video being shot with a sunset background.

Remixing a classic is beset by many dangers, but this version of Neria sounds catchy, from the little we can hear.

Mtukudzi originally recorded Neria in 1993 as the soundtrack to a film with the same name.

This is not the first collaboration between the Zimbabwean superstar and the multiple award winning South African world travellers.

In 2016, they got together for a remix of the Black Mambazo hit, Hello My Baby.
