MUTARE – Sports Minister Kirsty Coventry has been back in the water – this time offering free swimming lessons to Mutare children.

The former Olympic gold medallist, appointed minister in September, said it was “awesome” swapping the office suit for a swimsuit on Saturday.

Coventry said on Instagram: “It was awesome jumping in the pool again. Our HEROES programme provides free swimming lessons to about five schools here in Mutare. I don’t know if the kids or the coaches love it more!”

The programme is aimed at preventing drowning and supporting swimming coaches across the country.

The 35-year-old Coventry, the most decorated Olympian in Africa, won two Olympic gold medals, four silver and one bronze in an illustrious career.
