HARARE – The ZBC has appointed acting heads in editorial departments following the suspension or dismissal of top managers.

Albert Chekayi has been named as the acting head of news and current affairs, replacing the suspended Tazzen Mandizvidza, according to a November 5 statement by the state-owned broadcaster.

Isaac Munzabwa is the acting head of radio services, a vacancy not filled since the departure of Chris Chivinge in July 2016. Tendai Madondo, who took over from Chivinge in an acting capacity, was suspended in January this year.

Tapiwa Mudzamba is the acting manager for radio and television studios, while Jacqueline Gwemende takes over as acting manager for bulletins.

The ZBC has suspended over a dozen middle and top-level managers starting in 2015, most of them accused of financial impropriety.
