ESIGODINI – President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Friday embarrassed Zanu PF chairperson Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri after she attempted to spin a yarn over Vice President Kembo Mohadi’s absence from the Zanu PF conference.

Muchinguri-Kashiri told 6,000 Zanu PF officials gathered at Mzingwane High School in Esigodini that Mohadi, whose Matabeleland South province is hosting the conference, was away on assignment.

But Mnangagwa, taking to the podium, said Mohadi had stayed away due to ill health.

“(Vice President Mohadi) is not here. The chairperson has said we sent him on assignment, no, that’s not correct. He’s not feeling well. He said if he gets better he might join us for the conference. He’s in Harare,” Mnangagwa said.

Mohadi suffered leg injuries when a bomb exploded during a Zanu PF rally at White City Stadium on June 23 and has been in and out of hospital.

Mohadi, who is in the middle of a court divorce from his first wife, Tambudzani, is now living with a younger woman, Juliet Mutavhatsindi, who is introduced at State functions as his wife.
