HARARE – Phillip Chiyangwa went shirtless, covered only by a coat, to denounce social media posts in his name.

The married property tycoon is furious after a Facebook page in his name claimed he had bought a woman named Monalisa Charity Mutindivari a vehicle.

The post from someone using the name Phillip Chiyangwa said: “It’s your lucky day today my good new friend Monalisa Charity Mutindivari unemoyo wakanaka dear thanks for taking me to lunch two weeks ago.

“You asked for a laptop to use at school, sorry I failed to fulfill my promise in time, receive this small new Mazda car from my heart.”

“Chiyangwa” went on to ask Mutindivari to contact him or his management to get his car.

But the real Phillip Chiyangwa, in a video released on Monday, said he had no active social media account.

“I don’t operate any social media accounts, that’s Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. So if you see anything that’s generated from those accounts being used for Phillip Chiyangwa it’s all fake, total hogwash,” says Chiyangwa in the video, speaking to a background of slow music while wearing a red coat and hat.
