HARARE – Dynamos have reappointed Tonderayi Ndiraya as coach, three years after they sacked him for poor results.

The Harare club fired their coach Lloyd Chigove after seven months at the helm on Tuesday following a disastrous start to the Premier Soccer League season in which they have lost three of their four matches.

Chigove’s last act at the club was to watch them lose 1-0 to Herentals on Easter Monday, confirming the club’s worst ever start to a season.

Ahead of a trip to newcomers TelOne in Gweru on Sunday, Dynamos did their business early by appointing Ndiraya having earlier put team manager Richard Chihoro in temporary charge assisted by club captain Edward Sadomba.

Dynamos chairman Isaiah Mupfurutsa said Ndiraya, sacked by Ngezi Platinum after two seasons in charge last year, had been offered a one-year contract.

Ndiraya told a news conference: “Naturally, I’ve to work with the players that are there, but we’ll have an opportunity to add quality in the transfer window to make sure that we are at a level where we can compete with the top teams. That’s the objective.”

Ndiraya feels his time away from Dynamos, after serving them as player and coach, has given him a time to learn and he feels he is returning with useful experience.

“Coaching Dynamos is always a challenge, a big challenge for that matter because results are expected and that’s what we’re going to try and work on with the players we have. There’s a lot of potential in the team, like what the chairman has said rebuilding is a process which requires a bit of time. For the rebuilding process to progress in a very positive way, the team has to be getting some results,” Ndiraya said.

“It’s a process, it’s a long journey… It’s challenge, but a challenge which I’m really prepared to take on. It may take time, but I’m confident that by the end of the year we would have restored the team’s pride and results would be there.”
