HARARE – Premier League form-team Highlanders were on Monday drawn with ZPC Kariba in the semi-finals of the Chibuku Super Cup.

Highlanders are unbeaten in nine competitive matches since Dutch coach Hendrik Pieter de Jongh took over at the club.

After a slow start to the season and already out of contention for the Premier League title, the Bulawayo club can rescue their season by winning the major trophy on the calendar.

In the other draw, Ngezi Platinum will meet the winner of the quarter final clash between Harare City and Triangle for a place in the final.

The venues and dates of the fixtures were not immediately announced.

De Jongh welcomed the draw against an opponent he has already met in his short stint at the club. The two clubs drew 1-1 on October 23, in a match in which Highlanders’ top marksman Prince Dube was shown a straight red card.

“It’s not an easy game. ZPC Kariba are fourth in the league, with an eye on the league title. However, this is a cup game; a cup game is different and it can produce any result. I think we are in a very good mood; the spirit of the players is high and this week we are looking forward to good training, good focus. We will work hard and hope we can go to the final,” De Jongh said.

The Highlanders coach wants to know “when the match will be played and which stadium, for preparation.”
