HARARE – Three police officers and a soldier were killed on Sunday after a police truck they were travelling in overturned near Shamva in Mashonaland Central.
The vehicle careered off the road, floored a telephone pole and overturned after contact with a rock.
National police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the incident was under investigation.
“The accident took place at the 106km peg along the Harare-Shamva Road at around 4PM on Sunday. Unfortunately, we have lost three police officers and a soldier,” Nyathi said.
Six other uniformed soldiers who were on Covid-19 duties were injured and ferried to Shamva and Bindura for treatment.
