HARARE – The MDC Alliance’s Glen View North MP Kennedy Dinar died on Thursday following a short illness, the party announced.

Dinar, described as an “organic leader”, died at Chitungwiza General Hospital.

Party secretary general Charlton Hwende said the cause of death was still unknown.

Hwende said in a space of two months, they had witnessed the deaths of six top officials.

“Just in the last 60 days, we have lost six National Executive members (two current MPs and two former MPs). Politics is increasingly becoming very risky in the so-called New Dispensation. If you’re not in court or jail then you’re in a coffin,” Hwende tweeted.

MDC Alliance youth leader Obey Sithole travelled with Dinar to Magunje in September for the burial of Kuwadzana MP Miriam Mushayi. He said the Glen View MP’s death was most unexpected.

“I never imagined that today I would be talking about Dinar’s departure,” Sithole said.

Last month, Anna Muyambo who was in June recalled as MP for Harare (Proportional Representation) by the rival MDC-T as part of a raging power struggle died after suffering a stroke.
