HARARE – Another security aide to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has been arraigned over the alleged looting of property worth ZW$1,6 million from the former army general’s Orchid Gardens farm in Domboshava.

Anesu Manyika, a Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) officer attached to the Presidential Guard battalion appeared together with Chiwenga’s employee Simon Nyakabanga before Harare magistrate Judith Taruvinga on Tuesday, bringing the number of suspects charged so far to six.

They were remanded in custody to Wednesday for bail application.

Four other defendants Tempson Dhauramanzi and Paul Ndlovu, both from the Presidential Guard, and their alleged accomplices Mind Makona and Edmore Huni were arrested earlier and appeared in court on Monday.

A magistrate will rule on their bail application on Wednesday.

Prosecutors allege that the suspects reported for duty as usual at Chiwenga’s property on February 10 and secured the farm warehouse by locking all doors before deploying to their respective positions of night duty.

But security checks the next morning revealed that a 10,000-liter water tank had gone missing, the court heard.

Searches were conducted at the suspects’ residences, resulting in the recovery of a gamut of property valued at ZW$1 million.

The rest of the loot is yet to be accounted for.
