BULAWAYO – A five-man gang robbed and raped three women including a 15-year-old teenager in Rangemore, Bulawayo, after tying their brother with shoelaces, police said.

The still-at-large bandits gained entry through an unlocked door armed with a small axe and three knives, Bulawayo deputy police spokesperson Nomalanga Msebele told ZimLive.

“The four complainants are two female adults aged 21 and 19, a female juvenile aged 15 and a male aged 28, all of Upper Rangemore in Bulawayo. The accused persons are five unknown male adults,” Msebele said

The suspects, she said, found the complainants watching TV last Wednesday, and then grabbed the male plaintiff, searched him, and took three cell phones from his pockets.

“The accused persons tied all the complainants’ hands and feet using shoelaces. They searched the first female complainant and took US$10.They untied the three females and force-marched them to the kitchen where they took turns to rape them without protection,” Msebele said

After the sexual violation, the five men entered the spare bedroom and took off with clothes.

The complainants reported the matter to police the following day at Nkulumane Police Station, where the females were referred to Mpilo hospital for tests and treatment.

Msebele urged members of the public to stay vigilant at night and secure their doors.
