HARARE – A former ZB bank employee and two of his accomplices have each been slapped with 10 year jail sentences after being convicted of taking part in a 2021 armed robbery incident which saw US$2,7 million seized from a cash-in-transit truck.

Shadreck Njowa, Tendai Zuze and Neverson Mwamuka were convicted after a full trial by Harare magistrate, Clever Tsikwa.

Prosecutors proved Njowa who was a ZB bank employee at the time, masterminded the robbery.

The trio hijacked a cash-in-transit vehicle that was distributing money at various ZB bank branches in and outside Mashonaland West province.

Their accomplices were acquitted for lack of evidence linking them to the robbery.

The robbery incident happened in January 2021 at Gwebi Bridge along the Harare Chirundu road.

Investigations traced the crime to the bank’s own employee and accomplices.
