HARARE – Zimbabwe’s stand-up comedians Learnmore Jonasi, formerly known as Long John and Alfred Kainga, are set to showcase their talents at the world-famous Apollo Comedy Club in New York.

The Apollo Comedy Club is based at the Apollo Theatre which is renowned for launching and celebrating legendary musicians, filmmakers, and comedians from varying backgrounds by offering them an internationally recognised platform to perform.

Jonasi will be performing alongside Karmen Naidoo from South Africa and Quadir Yussuf.

He said performing at the Apollo will be a big achievement in his career.

“So I will be performing live at The Apollo Theater, Harlem New York City on the 13th of April; this is such a dream come true…” said the comedian on his Facebook page.

Jonasi has won the hearts of many comedy lovers with his rib-cracking jokes which are derived from his life experiences.

The comedian has won the National Arts Merit Awards as the Outstanding Comedian of the Year and was selected as the People’s Choice Award winner in Steve Harvey’s Stand Up Spotlight Competition.

Meanwhile, American-based Kainga will be hosting the comedy night, which is titled “Africa Now”.

He will be performing at the world-famous comedy club for the third time.

Kainga’s ability to make fans erupt into laughter with his jokes has gained him international recognition in the comedy world.

He has performed and toured with some of the biggest names in comedy including Bruce Bruce, Michael Coyler, and Bill Bellamy.
