JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – South African music producer and DJ Black Coffee has been hospitalised after a “severe travel incident” as he flew to Mar Del Plata in Argentina for a scheduled gig, a statement released on Wednesday by his management said.
The statement did not state when the incident occurred.
“The incident resulted in unforeseen complications and left him with some injuries. We can confirm that he is receiving the best possible medical attention and is surrounded by a supportive family and team,” it added.
The Argentina safety board has said it is investigating a January 6 incident in which a Flybondi Boeing 737-800 performing flight FO-5720 from Buenos Aires to Mar del Plata had a hard landing at Mar del Plata at around 10.28PM. The aircraft’s tail also touched the ground in what is known in aviation as a tail strike.
“The aircraft rolled out without further incident. There were no reported injuries, but the aircraft sustained substantial damage,” an initial report of the incident said.
Argentina’s safety board, the JST, said it rated the hard landing as an “accident” and an investigation is underway.
Grammy award winner Black Coffee is currently South Africa’s biggest music star with a full calendar of international performances on all continents.
