BULAWAYO – Police in Bulawayo say they have made an arrest over the 2019 hotel death of a sex worker found with “666” written in blood on her belly.

Police released a CCTV image of a man with short dreadlocks after Patience Ndlovu, 35, was found dead in a hotel room at the Silver Sands Lodge on Cannaught Avenue and Joshua Mqabuko Street on June 3, 2019.

On Monday, police announced the arrest of Wisdom Mpiloenhle, 25, over the murder.

Inspector Abednico Ncube of Bulawayo police said: “On Thursday last week police obtained information regarding the whereabouts of Mpiloenhle leading to his arrest.”

Ndebele said Mpiloenhle was detained at Wings East Mine in the Nkankezi area of Filabusi in Matabeleland South.

“The accused person admitted to committing the heinous act,” Inspector Ndebele said.

Police say Mpiloenhle hired the services of Ndlovu for a night, and the pair checked into the lodge at 3AM on June 3, 2019. Mpiloenhle gave a false Pumula South address.

Sometime during that morning, police say Mpiloenhle strangled Ndlovu before leaving a ritualistic star and 666 mark on her stomach using blood. In the Bible, ‘666’ is described as the mark of the beast associated with the Beast of Revelation in chapter 13, verse 18 of Book of Revelation.

A hotel cleaner found Ndlovu’s body at around 10AM after going to their room to tell the pair it was check-out time. Mpiloenhle had disappeared.
