HARARE – Zanu PF’s Chegutu West MP Dexter Nduna was due before a court in Chegutu on Thursday accused of invading council land.

Nduna was arrested on Wednesday accused of “occupation of gazetted land without lawful authority.”

In June, Nduna allegedly led the invasion of Risboro Farm which is owned by Chegutu municipality and was set aside for urban development.

The MP allegedly parcelled out land to thousands of invaders without lawful authority.

Nduna was controversially declared MP for Chegutu West despite losing the election to Gift Konjana of the MDC Alliance in 2018. The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission later acknowledged the error but said it could not reverse the declaration while referring Konjana to seek redress in court, where the matter collapsed on a technicality.
