HARARE – Dynamos beat city rivals Caps United 1-0 while Highlanders fell by an identical margin away to Hwange in two Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Match Day 24 clashes played at different venues Sunday.

In the Harare derby played at the National Sports Stadium, Nyasha Chintuli scored for Dynamos after 22 minutes to compound fallen giants Caps United’s woes in the current premiership campaign.

Chintuli pounced on a rebound which came after Emmanuel Ziocha’s effort had crashed on the post.

Through the victory, Dynamos completed a double over their neighbours who have endured a nightmarish campaign this season.

At the Colliery, former league leaders Highlanders’ faltering premiership campaign suffered yet another setback in the hands of Hwange who handed the visitors their third defeat in four games.

Highlanders, unbeaten in the first 19 games of the current premiership season, saw their dream campaign take a cruel twist when they lost to FC Platinum, Chicken Inn and lately Hwange in just a space of five weeks.

Bosso are also certain to lose the three points which were at stake in their tempestuous clash against Dynamos at Barbourfields two weeks ago when some irate fans stormed the pitch in protest over match decisions that did not go in their team’s favour.

Meanwhile, in a shock result, bottom placed Black Rhinos beat Manica Diamonds 2-1 at Baobab to dent the league championship dark horses’ astounding campaign.

Bookmakers did not give the premiership punch bags any chance against a strong Manica Diamonds side that has punched above its weight so far this season.

Following Sunday clashes, Ngezi Platinum now hold firmly on top of the premiership table with 48 points.

Highlanders remain second on 44 while third placed Manica Diamonds’ defeat also did not affect their position on the log.
