HARARE – Former SeedCo public relations manager Marjorie Mutemererwa has won a High Court case against businessman Shingi Munyeza and his wife Wilma to pay back the US$100,000 debt they owe her.

Mutemererwa said she was forced to take the couple to court after several failed attempts to recover her money.

Harare High Court judge, David Mangota ordered the Munyezas to pay back the money with interest.

“Defendants be and hereby ordered jointly and severally and in solidum the one paying the other to be absolved to pay US$100,000 being a refund of money lent and advanced to the defendants,” reads the judgment.

“The defendant be and are hereby ordered to pay interest on the sum in (b) above calculated at the prescribed rate from 1st of February 2023 to date of payment in full.”

According to Mutemererwa, on January 21, 2022, the Munyezas took a US$85,000 loan which she deducted from her retirement package, promising to pay it with US$15,000 interest by January 31, 2023.

She reported the matter to the police on March 3 when the Munyezas failed to honour their end of the bargain.

The former SeedCo employee expressed dismay over the Munyezas’ dishonesty.

“Shingi and Wilma Munyeza are aware that l am grieving my only son. Their wickedness and unkindness are painful. They pounced on me and conned me,” said Mutemererwa.

“They ought to be exposed so that other people are not victims. I’m a victim of silence. People who have been duped by these two were quiet, only now others are telling me about their experiences with these two.”
