HARARE – Dynamos legend Gift Muzadzi appeared in court on Monday accused of planting cannabis in his garden.

The former Zimbabwe international goalkeeper was not asked to plead during a brief appearance before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda who released him on Z$50,000 bail.

He is charged under the Dangerous Drugs Act.

Police acting on a tip-off went to Muzadzi’s Good Hope house on May 29 this year and identified seven cannabis plants in his garden.

The plants ranged between 0.86 meters and 1.8 meters in height.

Prosecutors say his wife Mendy Mhene, when confronted, told police the plants belonged to Muzadzi who was subsequently interviewed and allegedly admitted the same.

He could be jailed for up to two years if found guilty, based on sentencing guidelines in similar cases.
