GOKWE – A 16-year-old Gokwe girl is reported missing by her parents who suspect she could have been abducted by some Zanu PF supporters.

According to Christopher Chiremba, his daughter Charmaine Chiremba, a Form Three student at Njelele High School, went missing in the early hours of Wednesday.

“We need assistance to look for our 16-year-old daughter Charmaine Else Chiremba.

“On Wednesday morning, we heard footsteps outside our house.

“I went to investigate and saw Charmaine and her sister coming from the toilet and I went back to sleep.”

Chiremba said they realised Charmaine was missing when her mother went to wake her up to prepare for school.

“She found blood stains on the veranda of their bedroom and a note written ‘usivhotela Zanu PF mwana tatora’.”

The note was written in Kore Kore Shona, translated to “you should vote for Zanu PF, we have taken the child.”

He said they reported the case to the police and later conducted a search with some community members.

The search party found the girl’s blouse thrown on the ground a few metres from the house.

Asked on why his child was targeted Chiremba said: “In 2013 my wife contested for councillor under the MDC-T banner and lost.

“Ever since then, we have stayed away from politics. We even voted in the recent Zanu PF primary elections. I am not sure why they would target my family.”

Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko referred ZimLive to national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi who said he was yet to be briefed on the case.
