BULAWAYO – Highlanders on Saturday confirmed that head coach Pieter De Jongh will leave the club when his contract expires on December 31, 2025.

The Dutchman had recently stated publicly that he was keen to stay on, but the club says the decision to part ways was reached “after constructive discussions” and by mutual agreement.

De Jongh was brought in mid-season following the sacking of Kevin Kaindu, inheriting a team in turbulence. It was his second spell at the club.

Bosso paid tribute to him for his “professionalism, commitment, and positive contribution,” noting that his experience and leadership were valuable during a difficult campaign.

Highlanders ultimately avoided relegation by a narrow margin, finishing 11th — just two points above the drop zone — after one of their most challenging seasons in recent memory.

“Both parties part ways on good terms,” the club said, wishing De Jongh well in his future coaching endeavours.

The Bulawayo giants said updates on their technical setup for the 2026 season will be announced soon.

Highlanders is the latest top flight club to make changes to its coaching department.

Champions Scottland FC, Ngezi Platinum, CAPS United and FC Platinum are some of the clubs that will have new coaches for the 2026 season.
