HARARE – Popular Zimbabwe Hip-hop artist, Holy Ten has reignited his beef with Winky D through claims the Zimdancehall star was a snake in what has invited a backlash from Winky D’s fans.

Fans have scorned Holy Ten for allegedly disrespecting Winky D.

The two found themselves drifting apart after a collaboration on the song Ibotso elicited an angry reaction from government sympathizers for its strong lyrical content scolding the greedy elite that has abandoned the poor.

The song was one of the collaborative acts contained in Winky D’s Eureka Eureka album launched on New Year’s Eve.

Following the tepid reaction from a section of fans and politicians to the song Ibotso, Holy Ten later said he regretted being part of a track he insisted has unnecessarily divided his fan base.

The controversial artist was back in the news Tuesday, this time calling Winky D a snake, in an episode contained in an online podcast.

Earlier in January, Holy Ten wrote: “Politicians, Reporters, and Lawyers, Oh My! A brand that is striving to serve and save everyone will not benefit in the least from divided opinions; thus, please do not pretend as though I have chosen a side in this debate. Please do not inject politics into a project that I have regarded as nothing more than a pleasure to be a part of. I am sorry about that now.”

He later said the song with the ‘Mugarden’ hit maker was a set up.

“The man you are talking about (Winky D) is a snake longer than his dreadlocks. But even the snake did not force that apple on Eve. She was partly involved,” he said.

“The serpent spoke and Eve made a decision. So, in this case, I’m Eve.”

Asked if he would have preferred doing a song with a different meaning with Winky D, Holy Ten said: “I would have never done a song with Winky Gee; that’s me avoiding to be sued. I’m not stupid, I have done law and we signed contracts.”

Fans called the musician arrogant adding that his behavior was uncalled for.

Posting on his Twitter Wednesday, journalist Hopewell Chinono advised Holy Ten to stop hating and show some respect.

“Winky D has been doing this music thing for decades, so you might learn something from engaging with him without dissing him,” he said.

“Winky D is bigger, that is why everyone was happy to see him give you an opportunity to duet!”

Another Twitter user described Holy Ten’s comments as disrespectful.

“Holy Ten saying that when he agreed to that collaboration with Winky D it was like when the serpent convinced Eve to eat the forbidden fruit is so disrespectful man,” commented @teemadzika on Twitter.

“Is he trying to be popular/infamous by dissing Winky? A whole collabo he was part of and he calls him a snake. I don’t understand. I wonder what Winky D has to say about this,” said another fan.
