BULAWAYO – A 42-year-old Bulawayo man has earned himself 10 years imprisonment after pleading guilty to inserting his fingers into his neighbour’s 8-year-old daughter’s private parts.
Nqabutho Dube from Makokoba suburb was facing two counts of rape and aggravated indecent assault when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Joseph Mabeza.
The rape charge was dropped due to lack of evidence.
Dube however pleaded guilty to aggravated indecent assault.
Court heard that on a day in February 2023, at around 7pm, Dube visited his neighbour to find the minor playing with her uncle.
Dube is said to have given the uncle his phone to play games on.
When the uncle left the room, court heard, Dube told the minor to sit on his lap.
Court was further told that Dube then inserted his fingers into the minor’s private parts.
He then told the minor not to disclose the incident to anyone.
The incident was revealed when the minor’s grandmother noticed yellow discharge and bruises on the minor’s private parts.
After being questioned, the minor revealed her shock experience, leading to his arrest.
