BULAWAYO – The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating after the discovery of the remains of two newborn babies in Harare, and a foetus in Bulawayo.

In the Bulawayo incident, police said a foetus was found lodged in a sewage outlet of a house in Pumula.

Police believe the foetus came from an “unlawful termination of pregnancy.”

A post mortem is being conducted on the foetus at the United Bulawayo Hospitals.

At around midday last Friday, police were called to the corner of First Street and Jason Moyo in Harare after the bodies of two newborn babies were found wrapped with a plastic bag.

National police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said: “The bodies were found in a bin by a recycle plastic worker. Investigations are underway.”

Police have appealed for information in solving the two mysteries.
