HARARE – Highlanders lost 1-0 away to Triangle Thursday to continue with their woeful show in the second half of the 2023 premiership season which ends in the next three weeks.

In a Match Day 31 Castle Lager premiership clash played at Gibbo, the former log leaders succumbed to a strike by veteran midfielder Russell Madamombe who came from the bench to punish the visitors with the priceless strike 10 minutes from full time.

Bosso, who once led league leaders Ngezi Platinum by seven points going into the second half of the season, are now 11 points behind the same opponents, a cruel sign of a rapid deep in form by the legendary football outfit.

In another Match Day 31 fixture played at the National Sports Stadium same afternoon, Caps United overcame visiting Bulawayo Chiefs 3-2 to continue with their late resurgence in the premiership race.

The faltering giants got their goals through a double strike by William Manondo after 28 and 70 minutes respectively while Rodwell Chinyengetere made it three with nine minutes to play before the final whistle.

Bulawayo Chiefs scored after 43 minutes through Warriors star Obriel Chirinda and got their second from Billy Veremu after 58.

Following Match Day 31 round of fixtures, Ngezi Platinum top the standings on 60 points and are only three points from clinching their maiden title.

Manica Diamonds are second on 53 while Dynamos and FC Platinum share 51 points but the Glamour Boys are third by virtue of a superior goal difference over the defending champions.

Highlanders are fifth on 49 points.
