HARARE – Samantha Mtukudzi has filed a second application for divorce from her retired footballer husband, Tinashe Nengomasha.

Samantha, daughter of the late music legend Oliver Mtukudzi, initially approached the courts in December 2019.

In the amended summons filed this week, Samantha says that the couple has been living apart for over two years after the relationship broke down.

“The plaintiff (Samantha) avers that the marriage relationship between the parties has so irretrievably broken down that there are no prospects of restoration of a normal marriage relationship, more particularly in that the parties have lost all love and affection for each other and the parties have not lived together as a husband and wife for a continuous period exceeding 24 months,” her lawyers said.

The couple have two minor children together, and Samantha said she wants custody of the two.

This time she has also asked to be awarded their Maltese dog called Alvin Jazz, which they acquired when they were still staying together.

Samantha also said the couple has household property in South Africa at Honeydueridge Residential Estate. They also have a house and household property in Hillside, Harare, saloon equipment, a Nissan Navara and a BMW 125i Coupe.

She prayed that she retains all the household property at their Honeydueridge house and also at Hillside as her exclusive property.

Samantha also wants to be given the Nissan Navara while her estranged husband who played for Kaizer Chiefs gets the BMW.

“It would be just and equitable that the immovable assets are distributed as follows, that 17 Gibbons Avenue, Hillside, Harare, be shared in such a way that each gets 50 percent,” her lawyers pleaded.

She asked for a decree of divorce, an order of child maintenance, custody of the children, and an order that there be division of assets of the parties as she asked.

In 2019, she had sought that their houses in South Africa and Zimbabwe be sold, with the money being shared equally.

Nengomasha is yet to respond.
