HARARE – Elton Chikona netted twice in either half to give premiership giants a deserved victory over log leaders Ngezi Platinum in the headline fixture of Match Day 28 of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League played at the National Sports Stadium Wednesday.
Ngezi Platinum got their face saver through Takunda Benhura after 58 minutes.
In other matches, Highlanders’ poor run of form continued after the former log leaders were held to a 1-1 draw by homeside Green Fuel at Green Fuel stadium.
Bosso went into the halt time break leading 1-0 but were forced to surrender their slender lead to end the clash tied with the hosts.
In a surprise result, defending champions suffered a humiliating 2-1 home defeat to Black Rhinos at Mandava stadium.
Caps United continued on their revival path with a 3-2 beating of their hosts Simba Bhora at Baobab stadium.
At Luveve stadium, Chicken Inn were ruthless 4-0 victors over ZPC Kariba while Sheasham and Triangle played to a 1-1 draw at Bata.
Hwange beat Herentals 1-0 at the Colliery to complete Match Day 28 round of fixtures.
Ngezi still top the standings on 54 points from 28 matches while Highlanders remain second on 47 points from the same number of games.
Dynamos are now third on 46 points with a game in hand and share the same number of points with FC Platinum who are number four.
Similarly, Manica Diamonds and Chicken Inn share 43 points and are fifth and sixth respectively.
