KADOMA – A Kadoma woman who falsely accused a man of raping her has been spared jail.
The 18-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was convicted of deliberately supplying false information to a public authority on Thursday.
She was jailed for six months but two months of the sentence were conditionally suspended, and the remaining four months were also shelved on condition she performs 140 hours of commission service.
The NPA said the woman told police on the night of My 9, 2025, that she had been raped by a man she identified as “Mupostori.”
She later recanted her story.
“On May 19, 2025, the offender informed the police that she had not been raped. She clarified that she had only been assaulted by the victim after she searched his pockets. She then knowingly provided false information to police just out of spite,” the NPA said in a statement after sentencing.
