HARARE – The new Baltemar Brito led technical team has announced its first ever Warriors squad comprising local players due to face Botswana in an invitational clash end of this month.

The squad comprises outstanding players from Ngezi Platinum, Highlanders, Manica Diamonds, Dynamos, among other dominant teams in the current Zimbabwe premiership football race.

The squad was named as;

Goalkeepers: Donovan Bernard (Chicken Inn), Nelson Chadya (Ngezi Platinum Stars)

Defenders: Andrew Mbeba, Peter Muduhwa (both Highlanders), Godknows Murwira (Caps United), Frank Makarati (Dynamos), Farai Banda (Manica Diamonds), Qadr Amini (Ngezi Platinum Stars), Xolani Ndlovu (Chicken Inn)

Midfielders: Brighton Manhire (Highlanders), Sherpard Mhlanga (Chicken Inn), Brian Banda (FC Platinum), Tanaka Shandirwa (Dynamos), Mthokozisi Msebe (Bulawayo Chiefs), Donald Mudadi (Dynamos), Davison Marowa (Herentals), Walter Musona (FC Platinum), Tinotenda Benza (Herentals)

Forwards: William Manondo (Caps United), Fortune Binzi (Manica Diamonds), Obriel Chirinda (Bulawayo Chiefs)

The friendly tie to be played 30 September is part of Botswana’s Independence Day celebrations.

Brito, who is substantive Highlanders head coach, was given the most demanding coaching job in the country on Thursday by the Zifa Normalisation Committee, and has been tasked to prepare the Zimbabwe senior men’s national football team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign which starts this November.

His contract runs until July 2024.
