HARARE – Dynamos surged to second spot on the premiership standings Sunday with a 1-0 beating of hosts ZPC Kariba to give impetus to their late charge for the 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title.

A Shadreck Nyahwa tap-in off a 61-minute corner kick was all that was needed for the Harare giants to pick up maximum points in a Match Day 29 clash played at Nyamhunga stadium.

Dynamos are now on 49 points and well within reach of the premiership trophy if they win their game in hand and hope log leaders Ngezi Platinum – sitting on 57 – can drop points in the last five remaining games of the premiership race.

In other matches, Highlanders’ goalless draw with neighbours Bulawayo Chiefs at Barbourfields saw the former log leaders fall nine points behind the premiership pacesetters.

Bosso, who have only won once in their last eight matches, may have surrendered their bid for the title in a disappointing ending to their dream start to the premiership race which saw the club unbeaten in 19 matches.

At Baobab, log leaders Ngezi Platinum beat Yadah 1-0 to keep the dream for their first premiership title alive.

The miners got their goal through a late finish by defender Kudzai Chigwida four minutes from the final whistle.

In other matches played Sunday, struggling giants Caps United drew 1-1 with basement side Cranborne Bullets at the National Sports Stadium while Manica Diamonds were 2-0 victors over visiting Hwange at Gibbo.

Ngezi Platinum still top the standings now on 57 points from 29 matches, followed by Dynamos who are on 49 points with a game in hand.

Highlanders are third on 48 with Manica Diamonds fourth on 47 points but with a game in hand.

Manica Diamonds are tied on points with fifth placed defending champions FC Platinum who have played all their 29 fixtures.
