HARARE – Former Shooting Stars and Blue Rangers coach Patson Ndabambi has died.

Ndabambi, who also worked as team manager at ZPC Kariba, died at his rural home in Gokwe after a lengthy illness, the Zimbabwe Football Association said.

He is expected to be laid to rest in Gokwe on Wednesday.

ZIFA technical director Wilson Mutekede said: “This is a huge loss to the football fraternity.”

His friend Ranga Mberi wrote on Facebook: “The times I used to joke with Patson, when he was at ZPC and in the title race, saying ‘you were rubbish at football at school, how did you con people into making you coach top sides in Premier League?’ And he would laugh and say “Ndiri munhu webhora…” (I’m a football man). And he really was.”
