ZVISHAVANE – FC Platinum have parted ways with head coach Joel Luphahla and his technical staff “by mutual consent,” the club announced in a statement on Tuesday.
South African Thabo Senong, who missed out on the Highlanders job in February, has been appointed as his successor subject to work permit formalities.
The split comes days after the Zvishavane side’s 2-0 defeat away to MWOS last Saturday, a result that appeared to have been the final straw for Luphahla.
The platinum miners sit 11th in the 18-team Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table, with six wins, 13 draws and six defeats yielding 31 points from 25 matches — 21 points adrift of leaders Scottland, who have a game in hand.
FC Platinum thanked Luphahla and his technical team for their dedication, hard work and contributions to the club, wishing them success in their future endeavours.
Coaches Moses Mwafulira and Alexio Sigion will take interim charge of training and match preparations until Senong’s appointment is finalised.
The club also welcomed Senong to “the FC Platinum family” and thanked supporters, sponsors and stakeholders for their continued backing.
