HARARE – President Emmerson Mnangagwa has named former Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) commander Retired Lieutenant General David Sigauke as the new ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo, replacing Johannes Tomana who died August last year.

Sigauke was promoted to ZNA commander in 2021 following the passing of his predecessor and national hero, Lt-Gen Edzai Chimonyo.

He however retired from the army on health grounds in October last year.

President Mnangagwa then recalled Lieutenant General Anselem Sanyatwe who was the ambassador to Tanzania and named him as the commander of the ZNA filling up the post which had been left by Sigauke.

President Mnangagwa also appointed deputy Clerk of Parliament Helen Bangawe Dingani as ambassador to the Republic of Tanzania.

Dingani has also served as a deputy clerk at the Pan-African Parliament (PAP).

The new deployments were made in a government gazette by the Chief Secretary to President and Cabinet Martin Rushwaya.
