HARARE – Police have launched a triple murder investigation after a woman and her two young children were found dead at a farm in Mashonaland West.
Their bodies were allegedly dragged into a hut that was then locked from outside and set alight.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the bodies of Abigail Mwale, 26, Johanne Maiswa, 5, and Jayden Mwale, 7 months, were discovered at Shirleigh Farm in Darwendale on September 13.
“The suspect allegedly dragged the bodies into a hut, locked it from the outside and subsequently set the hut on fire,” Nyathi said in a statement.
The identity of the killer remains unknown. Investigators recovered a blood-stained white cloth, a white sack, an adze and a pair of socks at the scene.
The bodies were taken to Father O’Hea Memorial Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
Police have launched an appeal, urging anyone with information to report at their nearest police station, or to contact the National Complaints Desk on 0242703631 or via WhatsApp on +263712800197.
