BULAWAYO – The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Company has appointed its former sales executive and acting general manager Nicholas Ndebele as chief executive officer.

Stella Nkomo, who headed marketing, communications and business development, has been promoted to deputy CEO, a statement by ZITF Company board chairman Busisa Moyo said on Wednesday.

Ndebele, according to Moyo, “has demonstrated capacity and leadership depth taking the company to profitability and guiding it through one of the most tumultuous periods of history… brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic and attendant knock-on effects.”

In her new role, Nkomo will continue to oversee marketing, communications and business development, the company announced.

“Given their combined arsenal of qualifications, knowledge and expertise in business development and marketing fields, Ndebele and Nkomo are more than equal to the task,” Moyo said.

Ndebele holds a PhD in Business Leadership from the Gordons Institute of Business Science at the University of Pretoria. He also holds marketing and business management degrees from the National University of Science and Technology, the University of Zimbabwe and the Midlands State University.

Nkomo holds journalism and marketing degrees from the National University of Science and Technology.

The ZITF is Zimbabwe’s premier business exhibition held annually. The event was cancelled last year and has been postponed twice this year over soaring Covid-19 infections.

Moyo said they hope to hold the event in August when the virus third wave is expected to subside.
