HARARE – Twenty-five people were killed in a head-on collision between a commuter omnibus and a haulage truck near Chivhu on Friday night, officials said.

Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs Minister Itayi Ndudzo said 23 people died at the scene, while two others later succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

The crash occurred about 15km south of Chivhu along the Harare-Masvingo highway.

Authorities said the commuter omnibus was overloaded.
