HARARE – Hip-hop artist Holy Ten was granted US$500 bail on Tuesday during an appearance before Harare magistrate Jesse Kufa facing allegations of raping a 14-year-old girl.
The 27-year-old musician, whose real name is Mukudzei Modecay Chitsama, was represented by lawyer Admire Rubaya.
Prosecutor Lawrence Gangarahwe told the court that the National Prosecuting Authority was not opposing bail because investigations were still ongoing.
“We are waiting for a forensic examination report and documents that prove the age of the complainant. The state is not opposed to release of accused on bail,” he conceded.
Magistrate Jesse Kufa granted Holy Ten bail on condition that he surrenders his passport, continues residing at his given address, does not interfere with staying state witnesses, and reports once every Friday at a designated police station.
The matter was remanded to August
7 complainant.

Holy Ten was arrested early Tuesday.
The rapper recently completed rehabilitation for drug and alcohol addiction at a facility in Rustenburg, South Africa.
The rehabilitation programme was reportedly funded by Collins Mnangagwa, the son of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
In recent years, Holy Ten – who is never far from controversy – has been involved in public disputes with several high-profile figures, including preacher Uebert Angel and Collins Mnangagwa.
