HARARE – Three commercial sex workers face robbery following an incident in which they allegedly attacked a man and stole an iPhone and US$5 from him in Harare’s Avenues area midnight Monday.
Police Tuesday confirmed the arrest of the three suspects over an incident that happened corner Central Avenue and Sixth Street.
The area is a known spot where ladies of the night parade for passing motorists.
“On 24/04/23, police in Harare arrested Phakamani Sibanda, 39, Phepisani Sibanda, 39, and Tanaka Samakande, 31, in connection with a case of robbery which occurred at corner Central and Sixth Street at around 12AM.
“The trio, who are ladies of the night, allegedly attacked a man (38), before stealing an Iphone, and US$5, among other valuables. The man was attending to his vehicle which had developed a mechanical fault.
“Swift reaction by the police led to the recovery of the stolen items,” police said without giving further details.
