BULAWAYO – Newly-crowned champions Ngezi Platinum Stars are not done winning yet after three of their players were named among the 2023 Soccer Star of the Year finalists.
Their captain Qadr Amini, goalkeeper Nelson Chadya and the league’s top marksman Takunda Benhura are in the running for the three top prizes for the league’s outstanding stars.
The finalists were picked by a panel of experts made up of selected sports journalists and the 18 coaches and captains of Premier Soccer League clubs.
The coach, goalkeeper, and soccer star of the year will be named at the league’s awards show in Harare on Friday.
Dynamos and Highlanders provided two players each on the best 11. Dynamos midfielders Donald Mudadi and Tanaka Shandirwa and the Highlanders pair of goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda and right back Andrew Mbeba got the nod.
Michael Charamba of Chicken Inn, Fortune Binzi of Manica Diamonds, Obriel Chirinda of Bulawayo Chiefs and Tinotenda Benza of Herentals are the other finalists.
