FC Platinum 2-0 Chicken Inn

HARARE – FC Platinum are a point away from being crowned Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions for the second year running.

The Zvishavane club subdued Chicken Inn with two second half goals at Mandava on Wednesday in their inexorable march to glory.

Norman Mapeza’s men now lead challengers Ngezi Platinum by nine points with three matches to play. Nine points is the maximum points Ngezi, who drew 2-2 away to Harare City, can win from their remaining three fixtures and it would take a catastrophe to change the order of things at the top.

Farai Madhanhanga thrust FC Platinum ahead after 60 minutes before Rodwell Chinyengetere, the Premier League’s leading marksman with 17 goals, converted a penalty as Chicken Inn suffered a second defeat in a row after the 1-0 surrender to Bulawayo Chiefs last time out.

Meanwhile, Mutare City were relegated from the top flight after going down 1-0 away to Triangle.

They join Shabanie Mine who bowed out at the weekend.

Bulawayo City could be relegated on Thursday if they fail to win at home to ZPC Kariba.
